Word dictionary
Speech recognition sometimes mishears names, product terms or jargon. The word dictionary fixes them automatically: whenever a transcription contains a word or phrase you’ve listed, Abe replaces it with your correct version before inserting the text.
Add an entry
Section titled “Add an entry”- Open Settings → Word Dictionary.
- Under Misheard word, type what Abe wrote, for example
cue ball. - Under Correct word, type what you meant, for example
Kuball. - Add it. From now on every transcription gets the fix.
You can edit or delete entries at any time.
Learn from your corrections
Section titled “Learn from your corrections”When you edit one of your recent transcriptions in the Abe window, Abe compares your edit with the original. If you changed a word, it offers to Add to dictionary? so the same mistake is fixed next time.
How matching works
Section titled “How matching works”- Matching ignores case, so
cue ball,Cue ballandCUE BALLall match. - Abe keeps the capitalization of what was said: if the misheard word started a sentence with a capital letter, the replacement does too. All-caps stays all-caps.
- Entries can be single words or short phrases.
- Add the way the word is actually being misheard, not just a likely spelling. Check your history to see what Abe wrote.
- If one name is misheard several different ways, add an entry for each.
- The dictionary is stored only on your computer.
