Contributing
Abe is open source under the AGPL-3.0-or-later license, and contributions of all sizes are welcome.
Report a bug
Section titled “Report a bug”Open an issue on GitHub with:
- Your OS and version, and the Abe version (shown in the app’s About section)
- Local or Cloud mode, and which provider and model
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
- Any error message shown in the app
Please never paste your API key into an issue or log.
Report a security issue
Section titled “Report a security issue”Please don’t open a public issue for vulnerabilities. Email [email protected] instead, or use GitHub’s private vulnerability reporting on the repository if it’s enabled.
Suggest a feature
Section titled “Suggest a feature”Open an issue describing the problem you’re trying to solve, not just the solution. Abe deliberately stays small and focused, and it will never add accounts, telemetry or a required server.
Send a pull request
Section titled “Send a pull request”- Build Abe from source and make sure it runs.
- Create a branch for your change. Keep pull requests focused: one fix or feature each.
- Run the type checker (
npm run build) and, for Rust changes, cargo checkandcargo clippyinsrc-tauri/. - Describe what you changed and how you tested it. Screenshots help for UI changes.
By contributing, you agree that your contribution is licensed under the project’s license. See CONTRIBUTING.md in the repository for details.
Improve the docs
Section titled “Improve the docs”These docs live in the repository under site/src/content/docs/. Every page has an Edit page link at the bottom. Fixes for typos, unclear steps or outdated instructions are some of the most useful contributions.
Donate
Section titled “Donate”If you can’t contribute code, a donation helps cover code signing and development time.
